Couplets of collusion #3

Two Teenage Boys and a "Keep out!" Sign

the floorboards creaked beneath our leather shoes
my heart stuck in my throat at freaky views

Couplets of Collusion #2

Twilight at a Beach Deserted

along the salty shore the cold wind blew
that no good cheater bobs in ebbing blue

Acrostic Animals #50

Yay! I have written 50 of these little poems. If you haven't figured it out, or looked it up, there is a secret to these. Read the first letter of each line in the poem and it spells out an animal. If you didn't know about this, I suggest you go back and read all the Acrostic Animals pieces with this in mind. And here is number fifty:

Persnickety Persistent Patient Pest

Futile slaps that bring increased frustration
Land so soft with germs and wings and buzzing
Yet again the taunting hesitation

Acrostic Animals #49

Eggs, Excess, and Extinction

Discovery by Dutchmen sailing
Open beaks naive to orchestration
Dogs that hail the harbinger of death
Ornament to wistful tales of old

Acrostic Animals #48

New at the Zoo

Odd to behold a sight so strange
Kicking up dirt in black and white
Afternoon forager alone
Protrude the tongue to take a bite
Inviting wonder through the cage

Acrostic Animals #47

Pillage and Plunder

Ants softly crawling through cracks in the earth
African nights with the moon so shining
Riverbeds dried like a carcass from heat
Dim goes the sky as the clouds make passing
Vicious the tongue for sustenance lashes
Ages of mounds destroyed in quick digging
Rest in the tomb of the victims thousand
Kalahari sings of death and rebirth
